At Scott Business Association, each officer and board member are dedicated to our positions, and we are collectively asserting to achieve the same goal.
The betterment and growth of the City of Scott in all aspects.
It is our honor to serve you, the public, in our quest to promote the betterment of the City of Scott.
History shows Scott was founded in 1880, but not incorporated until 1902 or 1904. Dr. L. A. Prejean was the first Mayor when Scott was granted a charter in 1907. Sweet potatoes and cotton were the main farming done in the “olden days.” Today, Scott’s businesses have flourished much more! And Scott Business Association is here to assist!
Scott got its name honoring the superintendent of the
railroad, J. B. Scott, back in the 1880’s after Scott solidified a promise to
build a railroad station in the little town. It is noted the railroads were
worked on by convicts at the time, and different rates applied for traveling
East or West.
Scott Business Association is dedicated to advocating the
views of small business to elected officials and policy makers locally and
state-wide.
We understand the needs of small businesses and we are here to help.
Unfortunately, we saw as many businesses struggled through the pandemic. Sadly,
many closed their doors, not to reopen again. We, the board of SBA want our
members to know, we are here to advocate for you. One advantage of joining is you
have us by your side.
Scott Business Association is committed to providing business owners, managers,
and employees with continued updates on new laws, taxes, and interest that
affect the daily operations of a business.
Opportunities such as Business After Hours, Lunch & Learn, and Business
Before Breakfast provide business owners educational information and networking
events.
We are a volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization helping to sponsor
and coordinate events for businesses to showcase their goods for the citizens
of Scott, Louisiana.
Participation in Scott Boudin Festival, Scott Mardi Gras Parade, Mardi Gras
Ball, and many other events.
We are happy to serve our beautiful community of Scott!
